The Burnie Athletic Club and local radio station 7BU are joining forces to provide a spectacular end to 2024 for residents of Burnie.
After a hiatus the time-honoured and much-loved fireworks show will once again close out the BAC’s New Year’s Eve carnival at West Park at about 9.15 p.m. and it will be followed by SeaFM’s Illuminate NYE Drone Show on the waterfront.
BAC secretary Allan Johnson said the club had worked hard to ensure that it could once again conduct a fireworks show.
“Many long-time resident would be well aware that the fireworks finale was an integral part of the Carnival for many years. With the fireworks and then a drone show Burnie residents will be able to see out 2024 with more than a dash of colour and a big bang!” he said.
Mr Johnson also thanked 7BU for its sponsorship of the fireworks with its sister company supporting the drone show.
“7BU general manager Chloe Foster has collaborated closely with the club to ensure that the two events can occur virtually one after the other to give residents a special experience. Shows such as this do not come cheap and without Chloe’s support the club would have struggled to be able to offer up the fireworks display.
He also thanked the Burnie City Council for its support of the club’s aims.
“Staging such an event is never an easy task we are thankful to the officers at Council who worked alongside us to ensure all the requirements were met.”
Mr Johnson said this year’s carnival would once again offer world class athletes across a range of running, cycling and woodchopping events as well as free family entertainment and food vans.
