The 139th Burnie New Year’s Eve Carnival
Celebrating 139 years of tradition, the Burnie New Year’s Eve Carnival brings together world-class athletics, cycling, and woodchopping in one of Tasmania’s most iconic sporting events.
Held at West Park Oval on Wednesday 31 December 2025, the carnival showcases elite competitors from across Australia and beyond, alongside emerging local talent. Signature events include the prestigious Burnie Gift for men and women, the Tasmanian Mile, championship cycling events, and world-class woodchopping.
Proudly organised by the Burnie Athletic Club, the carnival is made possible through the support of dedicated volunteers, long-standing sponsors, and key partners including the City of Burnie, Events Tasmania, and Tasmanian Carnivals.
